Meet the Member - Mathew Forshaw from Finton Doyle Chartered Accountants

Who are you?  MATHEW FORSHAW

• What sets you apart from the competition?  We are very proactive, giving hands-on, practical support to our clients. We don’t just ‘do the numbers’ - we look at the business as a whole, where it is now and where it’s going in the future. All fees are agreed upfront.

How did the business come about?  I got fed up of doing the same ‘reactive’ service that every other accountants was offering, so I set up Finton Doyle to offer clients what they wanted, not what they were told they could have.

What are your main target markets?  Owner-managed businesses and property investors in Cheshire and Lancashire

• How long has your business been in existence?  8 years

• How many staff do you employ?  6

What job or achievement makes you most proud?  Setting up my company and growing it from scratch

• Where do you see the business being in five years?  I see my business being firmly established in Warrington

• Why Warrington?  I moved into the area in 2012 and I know I am settled here for life

Tell us one interesting thing about the business that might surprise us?  In 2016, four of us completed a challenge for Christie Hospital in Manchester which involved climbing Ben Nevis, cycling 20 miles and canoeing across a loch. It was a tough day!

• Tell us one interesting thing about you that people might not know? (ie, hobbies, amusing fact, etc)  My ambition is to be a published author

• Brexit – good, bad, opportunity?  Bad, but we need to turn it into an opportunity

• Fantasy dinner party – which six people alive or dead would you invite?  William Shakespeare  Mohammed Ali  Robert Plant  Winston Churchill  Olivia Coleman  Nigella Lawson
