Meet the member - Jeanette Leigh from PALI Warrington

  • Name of Business - Property & Land Information (Pali) Warrington Ltd
  • Who are you? Jeanette Leigh, Owner/ Managing Director. We are a conveyancing search company which provides an award-winning online conveyancing search & quotation solution to help property lawyers & conveyancing professionals complete residential & commercial property transactions faster and more easily.
  • What sets you apart from the competition? We have several added value complimentary services such as our conveyancing quotation software which helps conveyancers generate more business. Our local authority ‘regulated’ searches also include a lot of information which Solicitors would normally have to go and source for themselves, saving them a considerable amount of time. We offer the best of both worlds; the cutting-edge technology of a national company along with the ‘boutique’ personal service of a local company. How did the business come about? Pali Warrington is part of the Pali Ltd Network. I took voluntary redundancy from the Guardian Media Group where I held a number of senior commercial management roles. At the time I was also doing some property development and after 24 years working in the media, I was ready for a change.
  • What are your main target markets? Property Lawyers, Conveyancers & New Build Developers in Greater Manchester and Cheshire. • How long has your business been in existence? Pali Ltd was established in 1999 and I set up this franchise 12 years ago in October 2006
  • How many staff do you employ? There are 4 of us including me in the Warrington office. As a franchise network we have local offices throughout England & Wales.
  • What job or achievement makes you most proud? Representing the Newspaper Society at a garden party at Buckingham Palace. My extremely loyal & long-serving client base. Personally, I have just spent the last couple of years building a house with my husband Thomas. We endured 59 weeks living in a caravan on site whilst getting it to a habitable stage-I could write a book!!!.
  • Where do you see the business being in five years? Pali’s vision is to be one of the leading conveyancing search firms within both England and Wales. As 2016 winner of the ‘Best Search Provider’ award, for our prompt turnaround times, high level of professionalism and customer service, we are well on our way to achieving our ambitions.
  • Why Warrington? We are based in Newton-Le-Willows, so Warrington is just on our doorstep.
  • Tell us one interesting thing about the business that might surprise us? It is such a niche business that unless you work in the industry, the actual business itself surprises people. The conveyancing process seems to be an enigma to most people and I believe it would be good for the industry to help change this, so that people understand it more.
  • Tell us one interesting thing about you that people might not know? (ie, hobbies, amusing fact, etc) I am lucky enough to have a little cottage in Abersoch, North Wales. I like to go there as much as possible with my husband Thomas and Springer Spaniel ‘Bo’.
  • Brexit – good, bad, opportunity I am a glass half-full type of person, so let’s embrace it and rise to its challenges and opportunities and just get on with it. Nobody really knows what will happen.
  • Fantasy dinner party – which six people alive or dead would you invite? It would have to be people who like to laugh, drink, dance (particularly on tables) and have a good sing song, as well as some good inspirational conversation -Joanna Lumley, Karren Brady, Gary Barlow, Oprah Winfrey, Paul McCartney & Winston Churchill; Gina D’Acampo can do the cooking!
