Meet the member - Luke Taylor from Orchard Compliance Solutions Ltd

Name of Business  Orchard Compliance Solutions Ltd

• Who are you?  I am the MD of Orchard which is a Health and Safety Consultancy based in the North West looking to support small and medium sized businesses make Health and Safety simple.

• What sets you apart from the competition?  Our service is truly bespoke to our clients needs. We avoid generic templates and systems which have become so commonplace in the industry over the years. Taking the time to get to know our clients business is critical for us to be able to create Health and Safety solutions that are simple, approachable and proportionate to each client. I am a true advocate of End User Health and Safety, which focuses on the Workforce and Members of the Public, assisting our clients to take a proactive approach towards their Legal and Moral requirements.

• How did the business come about?  After over 10 years in the Health and Safety industry, I became frustrated with a lot of Health and Safety services that were available on the market, especially generic “box ticking” products you can buy from cloud based systems. So, Orchard Compliance was born out of the ethos to provide a down to earth and supportive consultancy service to SMEs that actually revolves around delivering solutions that are as unique to each client as their business is.

• What are your main target markets?  We work with businesses in all sectors with our core target being businesses with up to around 25 employees who want to take a proactive approach to Health and Safety. No matter the size though we can look to provide support, from full Consultancy to Ad-Hoc advice, Training and External Auditing.

• How long has your business been in existence?  Our limited company went live in 2018 and I have been in and around the industry for over 10 years, from Consultancy to Management.

• How many staff do you employ?  There is myself, my wife Amy who supports the office side and we have a selection of key associates who help deliver specialised areas of Health and Safety.

• What job or achievement makes you most proud?  We have received fantastic feedback from each of our clients and continue to grow because of this. Each project we undertake has its own quirks and requirements so to have every client return great feedback is truly our best achievement and something we continue to work at and improve.

• Where do you see the business being in five years?  We hope to be a leading name in the North West at least for Health and Safety Consultancy, Training and Events. As we continue to grow there becomes more opportunity there is to raise a positive profile of Health and Safety culture and leadership.

• Why Warrington?  I have been in and around Warrington all my life. Being based locally we are keen to support local businesses and do our own bit for the community. Warrington is a fantastic town and we want to make sure we do our bit to help.

• Tell us one interesting thing about the business that might surprise us?  We avoid long boring conversations about Legislation wherever we can! Anybody can read a document page for page, instead we focus on practical support and try to make it as engaging as possible. We know we are doing something right when we get complimented on the style of our Health and Safety Policy.

• Tell us one interesting thing about you that people might not know? (ie, hobbies, amusing fact, etc)  I am an avid F1 fan, supporting Red Bull Racing and McLaren. One day my hope is to be able to get our name on a car or helmet!

• Brexit – good, bad, opportunity?  I don’t think anyone really knows. Whether Brexit happens or not, Health and Safety is here to stay. I think for us there is a risk more on how it effects our clients, but being a truly bespoke service we can adapt to changes as they come easily and continue to support people.

• Fantasy dinner party – which six people alive or dead would you invite?  What a question! Right, for me I think it would have to be – Fernando Alonso, Robert Downey Jr, Stan Lee, Leonardo Da Vinci, Nikola Tesla and Charles Darwin
