Meet the Member - Phil Clerkin from Libertas Wealth Management
Libertas is a family run, independent financial planning firm founded by me, Phil Clerkin in March 2014. It has evolved into a modern, professional and well-respected wealth management company where a talented team of five deliver exemplary service.
I am married with two kids and am genuinely in business for the love of it. Not only does it provide me with income for my own priorities, but it gives me great satisfaction to work with a wonderful team to provide a really meaningful impact on the lives of our personal clients, business clients and the Charities and causes which we support. I set the business up as I always knew there was a better way to deliver the client experience our network deserves. Our clients are therefore in a better place to make a positive impact themselves on their own lives and on the world in general.
In the business, we have myself as Director, and our specialist Charities Adviser Julie Preston. We are looked after by our fantastic office team - Sarah Wielebski is our Office Manager and Jodie Burns our Client Services Manager. The most recent member to join the Libertas team is Helen Hall who is responsible for running our inclusive marketing, events and networking.
Between us, our team have over 50 years of combined experience in managing clients’ financial strategies. We work with private clients, corporate clients and trustees nationwide providing clear, bespoke and impartial solutions to match their individual needs and circumstances.
We have a variety of hobbies amongst the team; I love cycling and regularly cycle commute the 50 mile round trip from the Wirral to the office, Julie unwinds by re-living her 20’s through Clubercise at the gym, lucky Jodie is still in her 20’s and loves the gym too but both keep it real by a counteractive love of cake. Sarah coaches her daughter’s cheerleading team and Helen relaxes by volunteering as a physio’s sidekick, and also by playing Goal Defence in a local netball league.
As well as our hobbies, in business one thing we are extremely passionate about is providing a solid financial education through our social media posts and in person. We’re also involved in mentoring and this year has seen the team involved in a career's day at a local high school, and we’ve worked with GCSE groups to provide them with a working model of our business as a case study for their exam. The thing we’re most proud of this year is having been asked to mentor a fantastic group of Young Trustees for the Warrington Wolves Charitable Foundation to help them realise their fundraising potential for a life changing trip to Kenya in 2020. A life changing experience no doubt for the Young Trustees on the trip, and an opportunity for them to leave a lasting legacy and continuing to change lives through sport to the Kenyan community they’re visiting.
One question I’m often asked is why we chose Warrington as a location for our business. In truth I’ve had links with Warrington since I was a child, as my Dad always worked here and before I set up Libertas, I worked in four different roles in and around the Warrington area. Its solid business community and excellent transport links made it a logical location selection when merging our firms on the Wirral and in Hale Barns.
Our reason for joining Warrington Business Exchange is that over the next five years, we want to become the go-to, most trusted wealth management firm in Warrington, giving other businesses and people involved in those businesses useful insights and advice on modern day challenges they face.
