Warrington Youth Club been shortlisted by Cash 4 Kids as part of their Sporting Challenge this month, to help raise funds to deliver sports and physical activity for young people.

They are hosting their first ever Virtual Cycle Challenge between 19th and 31st October, and to celebrate their 85th Birthday this year, they are looking for teams of friends/colleagues/family to tackle 85 kms or 8.5 kms between them or individually.

Warrington Youth Club need to raise as much money as they can, as a prize of £5,000 is on offer from Cash for Kids for the charity that raises the most!, and also delighted that every £1 raised will be matched by the Hoppy Trust, up to £5,000

Similar to the Marathon Challenge, there’s no limit to team size, you can cycle on any day(s) that you want to during the challenge period, and you can cycle outside or on an exercise bike. Warrington Youth Club are also asking each team member to donate £10 as an entry fee, and then raise sponsorship from friends and family.

At the start of lockdown, the Club was forced to close The Junction, which is the only dedicated young person’s health facility in Warrington. Located in the town centre, it is equipped with a range of cardio, resistance and free-weight machines and is open to young people aged 7-19 (up to 25 with additional needs). From here, the team delivers a varied schedule of weekly classes and group fitness sessions to improve young people's physical health, develop their confidence, and crucially offer a trusted adult role model to talk to.  Covid has had a devastating effect on young people, and re-opening The Junction will enable 250 young people aged under 18, of whom many are disadvantaged and vulnerable, to have a safe space to Visit.
