Dunkys at Care Home
Children from Dunky's Nursey visit L and M Care Home Whittle Hall.

This was an amazing opportunity to link up with a local care home to build relationships between the children and the  residents.

“The children were really excited about this trip,” Dunky’s Nursery Manager, Cheryl Humphries, commented. The interaction between the young children and the older residents was fantastic to watch. The children sang songs with the residents, and especially loved to dance together filling the room full of laughter and joy.”

In addition to the new environment, children will also benefit from the praise and feedback they receive from the care home residents, who in turn enjoy the interaction with the children, especially the stickers that the children gave to them.

This has been an amazing experience for all involved and it’s very emotional to watch how much joy and respect this brings to both the children and residents. Children also love to hear stories from the elderly ladies and gentlemen and this sort of interaction builds up mutual respect from a young age.

The L and M Care Home sent the children a message thanking them for attending and they have agreed to continue working with Dunky’s after the Little Mover sessions have finished, to allow both parties to build up their relationships with the local community.

Chloe Sturgess from L and M Care Home stated - “I just want to say thank you to you and all of your children for a lovely afternoon, our ladies and gents really enjoyed themselves. Seeing the connection between them and the children was just so magical.”
