Chester-based law firm Aaron & Partners brought some festive fun to the city centre at its annual carol singing event, which was organised to support local foodbanks over the busy Christmas period.

Now in its fifth year, this year’s Carols in the Courtyard event saw almost 270kg of food being donated to West Cheshire Foodbank as more than 100 onlookers listened to a selection of classic Christmas tunes from The Chester Rock Choir and The City of Chester Brass Band.

This year’s event was held in collaboration with Manleys Solicitors, Bennett Brooks, Savills and Mercer & Associates Wealth Management – four firms based alongside Aaron & Partners at Grosvenor Court in the heart of the city.

The guests – which also included Chester Lord Mayor Councillor Sheila Little – enjoyed mince pies, mulled wine, and hand-cut Dutch chips from local vendor Chip’d.

Jan Chillery, Dispute Resolution Partner at Aaron & Partners and Chair of Chester Business Club, said: “Carols in the Courtyard is a real highlight in the city’s festive calendar, bringing individuals and local businesses together to celebrate the season of giving.

“It’s thanks to their kindness and generosity that we’re able to donate crucial funds to such a worthy cause, all the while catching up with both familiar and new faces in the courtyard.

“We would like to thank everyone who attended, including our brilliant musicians, food vendors and volunteers.”

The food donations from the event will be enough to feed 21 people for three days and all money raised on the day will be used to purchase additional food to support families over Christmas.

Kelly Hammersley from West Cheshire Foodbank said: “Carols in the Courtyard is a great example of our local community’s caring spirit, and we’re incredibly grateful to our partners for their hard work and organisation to put it on.

“The donations will help us support families struggling to provide for themselves, at a time of year that is so tough for so many.

“Thanks again to Aaron & Partners, Manleys Solicitors, Bennett Brooks, Savills and Mercer & Associates Wealth Management for another superb evening.”
