Foodbank May 2024

The Food Bank Weekend is on May 18 and May 19, with ticket prices from only £14 per person when each guest brings along a non-perishable item of food to donate. And, as usual, entry to Gulliver’s World is free for children under 90cms in height.

The theme park, located in Warrington, is holding the Food Bank Weekend in aid of The Trussell Trust, which has a network of more than 1,300 food bank centres in the UK. These provide a minimum of three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food to people who have been referred to the charity. It also offers support and advice to help people maximise their incomes and lift themselves out of poverty.

Examples of food that can be donated include tinned fruit, small jars of coffee, long life milk, tinned meat (hot and cold, such as stewed steak or Spam), tinned spaghetti and ravioli, cream crackers, juice cordials, tinned custard, jellies, Angel Delight desserts, and evaporated milk.

Craig Clews, resort director at Gulliver’s World in Warrington, said: “Sadly, food banks are now a necessity within society, helping those who are facing hardship and who need support. The work that the Trussell Trust does is vital in reducing the impact of hardship on those members of the community who have fallen on difficult times. We are pleased to be able to play our part in assisting the charity and help raise its profile.”

For those adventurers looking to stay overnight and enjoy the park for a second day, it has a variety of accommodation options, including a hotel with themed rooms, and themed dens, lodges and tipis in Wilderness Wharf.
