Based in The Old School Community centre in Fairfield and Howley, Home Start Warrington will use their funding to support children and families in the Warrington area, training a local community of volunteers to offer expert support and help to these families through challenging times. Their main aims include, developing confidence of those they support, strengthening parents’ relationships with their children and widening links with other services and the local community.

This new National Lottery funding will help over 400 families in Warrington over the next 3 years via our volunteer support and group work, if you would like to volunteer then please contact our office on 01925 652320.

National Lottery players raise over £30 million a week for good causes across the UK. The National Lottery Community Fund distributes a share of this to projects to support people and communities to prosper and thrive.

Ellie, CEO of the project said: “Thanks to National Lottery players, this grant means that we can continue to support families who have been so adversely affected during the pandemic. Our mission statement is that childhood can’t wait and this funding will enable us to provide volunteer and group support to our families to help build their confidence and overcome isolation. The pandemic compounded feelings of loneliness and anxiety for families particularly those with young children and we want to provide safe spaces for them to go to feel part of the community. We have an amazing team of staff, trustee and volunteers who give up their time to make such a positive difference to the life of a child. This funding will mean that we can offer one to one support, groups at the Old School and outdoor playgroups at a local rural educational facility. As well as this we will continue to provide days out and activity days for our families to provide some much-needed fun. This will make a big difference to people’s lives.”

During the pandemic, in 2020 alone, The National Lottery Community Fund distributed almost £1 billion to charities and community organisations across the UK.
