Anyone that formerly used Receipt Bank as part of their bookkeeping process may have been surprised by communications now coming through from Dext. Below we explain what the change means, and also that nothing has changed in the way LWA can support you with cloud accounting software, and ensuring you are all set up for HMRC’s Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements.

What is Dext?

Dext (Prepare) is just the new name for Receipt Bank. The software is available to use via web and app on a desktop or mobile device, and allows you to easily record and allocate expenses, and works seamlessly with software such as Xero, to ensure more accurate preparation of your accounts.

With Dext you can simply take a picture of your invoice or receipt, or forward emailed invoices to your unique Dext email address and the software takes care of the rest – no more manually entering invoices!

Dext works seamlessly with Xero, so if you are already using Xero, you can start using Dext for the preparation work of managing invoices and receipts.

At LWA, as Dext Partners, we can still offer FREE subscriptions to our clients, saving £25 per month for a single user.

What has changed?

Only the name has changed. You can still use your existing login details to access the website platform and manage your expenses once you have:

  • Taken a picture of your receipt / invoice using the app on your phone and allocated it to a category.
  • Forwarded an invoice via email to your bespoke Receipt Bank email address.

You may have already noticed that the app on your phone has automatically updated itself to be called Dext.

I have never used my Receipt Bank app

If you have already set up Receipt Bank but not used it, please contact our in-house Client Digital Expert, Bradley Allen-McKenna to arrange a quick refresher over email, phone or Zoom/Teams.

Let us help you get ready for MTD

The Government’s Making Tax Digital initiative means that all businesses must ensure ALL VAT returns are submitted via compatible software from 1st April 2022, even if the turnover is less than £85k.

If you’d like to learn more about the benefits of using Dext and Xero, and ultimately saving your hours of administrative bookkeeping whilst minimising inaccuracies in your accounts and adhering to HMRC MTD guidelines before the deadline, please see our blog here or contact Bradley on the details below.
