Watsons Hope Walk
Alex Mitchell and Chris Illingworth from Watsons Solicitors

The duo joined the organiser, who spent half a day continuously walking every step of all four stands in the Halliwell Jones Stadium, home of Warrington Wolves, exactly one month before World Suicide Prevention Day.

Assisting the Super League side’s foundation in its quest to raise awareness of the mental health focused campaign, Alex and Chris spent 60 minutes completing more than a lap with Tom, who works for community interest company, LiveWire.

A private client specialist at Warrington-based Watsons, Alex is no stranger to the foundation’s activity, having been a regular fixture on the annual bike ride from the Halliwell Jones Stadium to Newcastle United's St James’ Park.

She said: “I love doing what I can to help the charity, so when we were asked if we would like to join the attempt, I jumped at the chance.

“Chris and I only did an hour, which was tough going in the heat, so credit to Tom for doing the full 12!”

Residential conveyancing solicitor Chris, who raised funds for Bedford Hospital Charity & Friends as part of a 163-mile cycle challenge last year, added: “It was a wonderful effort to complete a gruelling fundraiser.

“Seeing the sun shining in Warrington felt like a good thing, but we soon realised that it almost certainly wouldn’t have helped Tom.

“It was fantastic to see so many faces out supporting him and to play even a small part in helping a worthy cause.”
