The formal announcement was made at the organisation’s AGM, where six local charities were presented with cheques

A well-known lawyer and loyal servant to the Chester business community has been named as chair of the city’s prestigious business club.

Jan Chillery, a Dispute Resolution Partner at Legal 500-ranked Aaron & Partners was formally elected to the position at Chester Business Club’s black-tie AGM, stepping up from her previous role as vice chair.

Jan, who began her legal career at the firm as a trainee solicitor over 20 years ago, said she was “proud and honoured” to take on the role at the organisation, which promotes and celebrates the city’s business community.

She said: “This club works hard to give back to Chester, and strives to benefit the city in several ways, not just with charitable donations but also business briefings and a range of activities that forge stronger connections and relationships across the city.

“We are an inclusive club of business decision-makers who are keen to make a positive difference in Chester and I want to use my influence and experience to build on the good work that has come before me.”

At the AGM during which Jan was elected as chair, cheques from Chester Business Club’s charity fund were presented to six local good causes: SHARE Aid, Adoption Matters, Cheshire Autism Practical Support, Clwyd Special Riding Centre, the Samaritans, and the Countess of Chester Hospital’s ‘Blue Skies Balcony’.

Jan, who specialises in insolvency, business recovery and turnaround for both corporate and private individuals at Aaron & Partners, is also secretary of the historic Chester Regatta, which this year celebrated its 290th anniversary.

She added: “Chester Business Club is a great organisation, warmly social and firmly promoting business here. It provides a voice for the business community and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to play a big part in its future.”
