Dave joined the Youth Club in 2009 as Senior Manager, before progressing to the role of Chief Executive in 2011, and during that time has facilitated a growth in Club membership to over 3,500 young people, steered a team of 25 staff and 100 volunteers, and led the Club to achieve the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2017.

The British Empire Medal (BEM) is awarded for civil or military service worthy of recognition by the Crown, and on hearing of the receipt of the award, Dave said "I feel really shocked, humbled and proud. This really is for all of the staff and volunteers at the Club as they go above and beyond every single day to help young people".

The award will be presented during a visit to Buckingham Palace, the second in Dave’s career so far, and will take place during an exciting year ahead, in which Dave will become the Chief Executive of Warrington Youth Zone which is set to open on Foundry Street in the town centre in May 2022. This incredible £6.9 million facility will transform youth provision in Warrington and offer young people a minimum of 20 activities every session, all under one roof, every day of the year.

Dave added "I’ve known for about a month, and it’s been really difficult not telling anyone. I particularly would like to know who has nominated me so I can thank them for this incredible honour.”
